On October 9 (the 10th day of the seventh month in the sacred calendar), the tenth day after the Feast of Tabernacles, the Sacred Assembly of the Day of Atonement was held.
The Day of Atonement was the day when Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the second tablets of the Ten Commandments after God forgave the Israelites for their sin of worshiping the golden calf, an idol. In the Old Testament Times, the high priest entered the Most Holy Place once a year to offer the sacrifice of atonement for his people’s yearly sins on the Day of Atonement. He chose two goats by casting lots-one for God and the other for the scapegoat that represented the devil. Then he put all the sins of the people, which had been temporarily transferred to the sanctuary, upon the head of the goat, and sent it away into the barren, desolate wilderness. This represents that all our sins, which Christ has carried, is transferred to Satan, the devil, on the Day of Atonement.
This day, Mother gave thanks to Father for having accepted His children’s earnest prayers of repentance and having forgiven all their sins and transgressions. She also prayed that all Her children would be born again by purifying their hearts and renewing their faith and would participate in the work of the Holy Spirit-preaching the good news of salvation to all people around the world.

General Pastor Joo-Cheol Kim reminded the members of the love and sacrifice of Heavenly Father and Mother who became the reality of the sin offering to atone for their sins, and emphasized, saying, “We must not forget the grace of atonement and must never sin again. This is true repentance.” He added, “Let’s remove our stubbornness and unrepentant hearts and engrave God’s will and sacrifice in our hearts. By doing so, let us lead the world to repentance and salvation as great prophets with gratitude in our hearts all the time.”
After the worship service for the Day of Atonement, Mother vividly reminded Her children of the heavenly hope and encouraged them, saying, “Let’s diligently preach the good news of heaven, the message of eternal happiness, to human beings who are in despair in this age of disaster.” Then She blessed them all, saying, “Bear abundant good fruits.”
