The Passover is the day the Israelites were delivered from slavery in Egypt, where they had served as slaves for 430 years, by escaping the plagues through the blood of a lamb. God commanded His people to celebrate the Passover as a lasting ordinance (Ex 12:1-14). On this day, Jesus Christ redeemed mankind from slavery to sin and death by letting them eat and drink the bread and wine, representing His flesh and blood, and established the new covenant which has the promise of eternal life (John 6:53-54; Matt 26:17-28; Luke 22:7-20).

At 6 p.m., the worship service for the feet washing ceremony was held before the service for the holy bread and wine ceremony. General Pastor Joo-Cheol Kim said, “We are to have the feet washing ceremony, following the example of Christ who personally washed His disciples’ feet just before the Passover Holy Supper. The feet washing ceremony has an important meaning, which confirms our relationship with God by connecting us to Him.” In addition, he explained the historical event that the priests washed their hands and feet so that they would not die before they entered the Holy Place in the Old Testament times (John 13:4-10; Ex 30:17-20).

This day, Mother personally washed the members’ feet at the New Jerusalem Temple. The members understood the mind of Peter who felt unworthy to have Jesus wash his feet because he was a sinner, but finally let Jesus wash his feet in obedience to His word 2,000 years ago. Following Christ’s example of serving, the members washed one another’s feet.

The feet washing ceremony was followed by the service for the bread and wine cere-mony. Mother offered a prayer of blessing and gave thanks to Father for giving His children the Feast of the Passover so that they would be able to regain eternal life and the kingdom of heaven which they once lost. She also prayed for Her children to fully put on the love and power of the Passover by realizing the meaning of the feast and celebrating the Holy Supper, so that they would be able to save many souls around the world and enter the kingdom of heaven.

General Pastor Joo-Cheol Kim reminded the members of the true meaning of the Passover, saying, “The reality of the tree of life described in the book of Genesis is Jesus’ flesh and blood. The Passover is a ceremony to eat and drink Jesus’ flesh and blood.” He also emphasized, saying, “The Passover is a sign of salvation through which we can escape disasters. It is a true feast that brings eternal life to human beings and judgment to Satan. Therefore, the Passover must be proclaimed and celebrated until the last day. In addition, he urged, “Let’s shine the light of the truth more brightly so that all mankind will be able to realize the value of the Passover and celebrate it altogether.”

When eating the bread and wine which represent Christ’s flesh and blood, the members engraved deep in their hearts the precious love of God who sacrificed for them, who are sinners. They committed themselves to proclaiming the glory of Mother the heavenly Jerusalem more boldly to numerous souls around the world through the power of the Passover, so that the amazing work of the gospel would be accomplished without fail in 2008.
