This past summer, the heat of the gospel was even hotter than ever before because of the 2007 Summer Short-Term Mission and Cultural Experience Teams’ overseas mission trips which took place from July 1 to August 31. They brought the gospel to about 70 cities in 27 countries, and led over 5,600 souls to the arms of the new Jerusalem Mother, by which they added new pages to the New Acts. To let the fire of the Holy Spirit blaze up even more, the “3rd Overseas Mission Report by the Short-Term Mission and Cultural Experience Teams” was magnificently held at the Okcheon Go&Come Training Institute on September 2. This event was attended by over 14,000 members nationwide, who displayed fully their enthusiasm for world evangelism.

At the opening service which began around noon, Mother offered a prayer of thanks to Father for helping the short-term mission teams bear abundant fruits and granting them such a joyful event—the “Overseas Mission Report.” Mother also complimented the efforts of the short-term mission teams who had boldly preached the new covenant in strange counties and of the members who had supported them by earnest prayers. She was very pleased that Her children had personally experienced and understood the sacrifice of God through the short-term mission trips and become united with one another in perfect love. Mother also reminded them that the way to prepare enough spiritual oil is to believe and obey God’s word completely and change into beautiful beings full of love, keeping in step with prophecies, and She encouraged them to “prepare for the kingdom of heaven like the wise virgins, by giving people warning from God and leading them to Zion in this age when the disasters prophesied in the Bible are occurring in every corner of the world.”

After the worship service, the mission report began. The short-term mission teams, who carried out their mission in the barren lands of the gospel and understood with their hearts their heavenly Parents’ love and sacrifice which they had understood with knowledge, confessed that they were able to bear good fruits with seeds when they conveyed their true love with the heart of their heavenly Parents, not with their language ability, and gave thanks and glory to God. The members gave a big round of applause to the short-term mission teams when they delivered the touching news of victory.

The mission report was followed by the presentation of some videos containing vivid scenes of the New Acts. The members, who saw the short-term mission teams sowing the seed of the gospel in tears in strange countries and observed the people in each country receiving heavenly Mother with tears of thanksgiving, realized that the gracious and precious outcome of the gospel was produced through sacrifice and love, and hoped that the fire of the gospel, which God lit through the short-term missions, would spread to all the Churches of God throughout the world and the work of salvation would be accomplished more greatly and rapidly.

After the event, Mother encouraged the members to “preach the gospel more diligently and save many souls by being united in God’s love, just as the short-term teams and long-term missionaries and also all the other members around the world have produced good results by being united in mind.” She cared for the lost heavenly family members scattered all around the world, saying, “They are still waiting for us.”

The members gave thanks to God for call-ing them to this event and allowing them to experience overwhelming emotions, and they showed their determination, saying, “We’ve realized what the true gospel—the work of preaching God’s love-is, and repented of our past shortcomings. From now on, we will renew our minds and put all our strength into preaching the gospel throughout the world, so that we can quickly find our lost brothers and sisters who are eagerly waiting for the love of heavenly Mother.”

This day, all the members were touched by the work of the Holy Spirit, which God granted during the short-term mission trips. Their strong will to fill their lamps with the spiritual oil of faith and love predicts the great work of the gospel which will be accomplished more rapidly throughout the world by the power of the Holy Spirit of the latter rain.
