Blood donation is to share healthy blood with patients who need transfusions; it is a great deed to share life with them. 2,000 years ago, Jesus promised eternal life to human beings through His sacrificial blood shed on the cross.
The Passover is the day when we eat and drink the bread and wine that represent Christ’s flesh and blood. To save human beings, Jesus endured the pain of the cross and established the Passover of the new covenant.
Imitating Christ’s love—the “life-giving” love, the members of the Church of God carried out the “Worldwide Blood Drive to Give Life Through the Love of the Passover” before the Passover 2012. This blood drive is an event to save the lives of those who are in danger due to the lack of blood supply and to make the world a warmer place where human life is respected, as well as to review the meaning of the Passover. This year’s blood drive was attended by the members of the Church of God in 150 countries around the world.
In Korea, over 500 members on average each time willingly rolled up their sleeves, and many other people—including their neighbors and public figures who agreed with the purpose of the drive—also came to join them. Officials from each blood center of the Korean Red Cross expressed their gratitude to the members, saying, “Recently there has been an acute shortage of blood. So, this large-scale blood drive that the Church of God is carrying out throughout the country as a part of the way to give life through the love of the Passover is really of great help in securing a stable supply of blood.”
The members actively participated in this special blood drive to share the love of Christ, hoping that their blood would help save someone’s life. The blood donor cards that the members donated willingly will be delivered to other relevant organizations or hospitals nearby so that they can be used for patients who need blood transfusions.
Philippines where there was a severe shortage of blood because of successive natural disasters such as floods and typhoons in recent years, the blood drive received a great response from people there and it was reported in the media many times. The Florida Blood Center in the United States welcomed the good deed of the members and sent them a letter of appreciation.
The members throughout the world, who put the love of the Passover into action by sharing life, hoped that all human beings would participate in the blood of Christ through the Passover and share God’s love and blessings together as well.
